Skincare 101: Vocabulary and Glossary of Terms

I constantly forget that most people don't live and breathe skincare as I do. I'm often worried that I'm not teaching you anything new. I assume you know everything already!

But the reality is that the skincare world is quite complex. After a lot of studying, reading, and practicing, much of skincare seems obvious to me now. I keep reminding myself to go back a few years ago when I was just getting started on this journey and think about what I did and didn't know about skincare.

And this week I did just that! I created a database with a bunch of terms and skincare lingo that I think will be very useful for you. It's an abbreviated version of what I've often needed.

I can’t add tables or anything fancy here on my website (if you know how to do this and want to help me, email me! I’d appreciate it!!!). For now, I’ve uploaded an image, or you can access the database directly here through Notion.so (my favorite) or by clicking here for the Google Spreadsheet version (not as robust or pretty).

You can save this and use it as a reference any time! There's a lot in there already, but I'm sure I'm missing things. So if you're wondering about something specific, or you think I should add something else, please let me know.

In this glossary you’ll find MY perspective based on what I learned in school as well as through other experienced professionals. I try to use sources whenever possible for several reasons. One, I appreciate information that’s rooted in facts. Second, there’s already been a lot written on these topics, and I’m just compiling the information for easy access for you! These are all people and sources I trust.
